Why Am I Tired All The Time?
Why Am I Tired All The Time?
By Barbara Lewin, Sports and Functional Nutritionist
Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms people experience, but it can also be one of the most complex. While many people assume fatigue is simply caused by getting older, stress, or being too busy, there are often multiple underlying factors involved. A functional and integrative nutrition approach looks beyond surface symptoms to better understand what may be contributing to low energy, poor recovery, and ongoing exhaustion.
Fatigue can have several possible contributors, including nutrient deficiencies, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, thyroid patterns, stress, inflammation, or gut health. A functional nutrition approach looks for patterns instead of assuming there is one single cause. The goal is to better understand what may be driving the fatigue and create a plan based on that person’s history, symptoms, and appropriate testing.
This type of comprehensive approach may help individuals who feel frustrated after being told that their labs are “normal” despite continuing symptoms. By evaluating lifestyle factors, nutrition, recovery, stress patterns, and possible metabolic imbalances, it becomes easier to identify areas that may be impacting energy production and overall health.
